This is the continuation of the regular Photography Plan, which includes both versions of Lightroom, and Photoshop, but only 20GB storage, for the same £9.98 / $9.99 / AU$14.29 per month price as the Lightroom CC Plan. First, this costs no more than the regular Photography Plan (below) BUT you don’t get Photoshop effectively, you swap Photoshop for your 1TB storage. This is new, and offers Lightroom CC with 1TB storage for £9.98 / $9.99 / AU$14.29 per month. Now that there are two versions of Lightroom, Adobe’s Photography Plan choices have become a little more complicated – there are now three, not one. If you use a lot of detailed filtering in Lightroom Classic CC you’ll be disappointed by the limited options here, but if you only use relatively simple filter options, like ratings or flags, you’ll probably appreciate the simplicity. You can still filter by rating, flag and file type (photo or video), but the metadata options are very basic and limited to Keywords, Cameras and Locations. Lightroom CC strips these options right back. You can even save your filter presets for re-use another time. Filter items can include ratings, color labels, flags, whether a photo is an original or a virtual copy, and all kinds of metadata and shooting information, such as the camera used, lens, exposure settings and a whole lot more. One way of doing this is with a search, where you just type what you’re looking for into a search box and see what comes back.īut Lightroom Classic CC also has a very effective Filter Bar, where you can choose what you’re looking for from drop-down menus. But if they need to, Lightroom Classic can provide a much better experience.Storing lots of photos is only part of the problem – you also need to be able to find the ones you want when you need them. #Difference between lightroom and lightroom classic professionalI’m sure most professional photographers don’t print these days. Generally speaking, Lightroom Classic gives photographers the functionality they need for more professional applications. Why pay for extra data when you’re on the road or if you’re at home? Functionality I always edit off of external drives while some folks use their computer’s internal drives. If you need to work faster, it’s better to keep images on your computer or an external drive. Lightroom CC stores your images in the cloud while Lightroom Classic stores them on your computer. If you want to customize your experience, plugins are the way to go. Then there are noise-reduction plugins and so much more. We’ve used things like JPEG Mini to make our images smaller. These give you lots of other functionalities. One of the biggest reasons has to do with plugins. Lightroom Classic is more robust than Lightroom CC. ![]() With all this said, we’re still sharing what we believe to be the truth on why Lightroom Classic is more popular than Lightroom CC. We’ve asked Adobe about getting back on their press list: no response. Camera and lens manufacturers have respected our decisions, for the most part. ![]() Manufacturers also tend to agree with us. This felt unfair we only believed we were using a superior product. ![]() When we started to switch from Adobe toward Capture One, Adobe began to sever our press relations. These days, when I open up Lightroom Classic, I sometimes notice an easier interface, but at other times it just seems confusing. But First, a Prefaceįor many years now, The Phoblographer switched our staff to Capture One. But that also means it’s not as powerful as photographers need it to be. It’s a lightweight version of the program. Introduced a few years ago, Lightroom CC was designed to address various speed and performance issues. Both new and experienced photographers alike often use Lightroom Classic instead of Lightroom CC. Lightroom Classic is, for better or worse, the industry standard for many photographers. ![]() |
